SOUND OFF: Is AI "Text With Jesus" Brilliant or Blasphemy?

In the age of technology, the sacred meets the digital. A new app called "Text With Jesus," launched by Los Angeles-based Catloaf Software, allows users to engage in instant messaging with biblical characters, including Jesus, Moses, and Mary Magdalene. Utilizing the artificial intelligence program ChatGPT, the app provides elaborate responses to questions on personal relationships, theological matters, and even complex social issues like same-sex marriage and feminism.

The app's Jesus bot emphasizes love, respect, and empowerment, signing texts with emojis like rainbows and red hearts. A premium version unlocks additional characters, and even a "Chat With Satan" feature, complete with a "smiling face with horns" emoji. While some see the app as an innovative way to explore scripture, others have taken to social media to accuse it of blasphemy and heresy. The app's creator, Stéphane Peter, defends it as a balanced and inclusive tool, but the debate over its appropriateness continues to rage.
